This Privacy Policy explains what information UpdateDecoded (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects when you visit https://updatedecoded.com (the “Website”), how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using the Website you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Website.
1. Who we are
UpdateDecoded is an independent news and explainer website based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. For any privacy question or request, write to us at contact@updatedecoded.com.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Contact form and email. If you use our contact form or email us, we receive your name, email address, subject, message, and anything else you choose to include.
- Comments. If you leave a comment, WordPress stores the name, email address and website you enter, the comment itself, and your IP address and browser details, which help us detect spam. Your email address is never shown publicly.
You do not need an account to read the Website. We do not currently sell products or collect payments through the Website.
Information collected automatically
When you visit, our systems and our service providers automatically receive technical information such as your IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, the pages you view, the time and length of your visit, the page that referred you, and your approximate location (country or city level) derived from your IP address. Some of this is collected through cookies and similar technologies, described in our Cookie Policy.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
We and our partners use cookies, which are small files stored on your device, for essential site functions, to remember preferences (such as a light or dark display mode), to measure traffic, and to show advertising. Our Cookie Policy lists the types of cookies we use and explains how to control them.
4. Analytics
We use Google Analytics, connected through the Google Site Kit plugin, to understand how visitors use the Website, for example which articles are read most. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect usage data. You can prevent your data from being used by Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Google’s own privacy practices are described at policies.google.com/privacy.
5. Advertising (Google AdSense)
We use Google AdSense to display advertisements on the Website. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this Website or other websites.
Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet. We do not control these cookies, and we do not receive information from them that identifies you personally.
You can choose how you are treated by these advertising services:
- Opt out of personalized advertising through Google Ads Settings.
- Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
- Opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at optout.aboutads.info or optout.networkadvertising.org. Visitors in Europe can use youronlinechoices.com.
Opting out of personalized ads does not remove ads from the Website. You will still see ads, but they will be less relevant to your interests.
6. Visitors from the EEA, UK and Switzerland
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you may see a consent message asking whether you agree to cookies used for advertising and measurement. Where such a message is shown, you can change or withdraw your choice at any time through the privacy and cookie settings option on the Website, or by clearing the cookies in your browser.
7. How we use information
- To read and reply to your messages and requests.
- To publish and moderate comments.
- To protect the Website against spam, abuse and security threats.
- To understand how the Website is used and to improve our content and design.
- To show and measure advertising.
- To meet legal obligations and to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
8. Legal bases (EEA and UK visitors)
Where European or UK data protection law applies, we rely on your consent (for advertising and analytics cookies and for comments), our legitimate interests (keeping the Website secure, preventing spam and improving our content), and legal obligations.
9. Who we share information with
- Service providers that help us run the Website, such as our web hosting provider and spam-protection and security tools.
- Google, for analytics and advertising as described above.
- Authorities and advisers, where we are required by law or need to protect our rights, our users or the public.

We do not sell your personal information in exchange for money.
10. How long we keep information
We keep information only for as long as needed for the purposes in this policy. Contact messages are kept while we deal with your request and for reasonable record-keeping afterwards. Comments stay on the Website until they are removed. Analytics and advertising data are kept according to the settings and policies of the providers concerned.
11. Transfers outside India
Our service providers, including Google, may process information on servers outside India, where data protection laws can differ. By using the Website you understand that your information may be transferred and processed in other countries.
12. Your rights
Depending on where you live and the law that applies, including India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and, for visitors in the EEA and UK, the GDPR, you may have the right to ask us to:
- tell you what personal data we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct inaccurate data;
- delete your data;
- limit or object to certain processing;
- withdraw consent you previously gave.
To make a request, email contact@updatedecoded.com with the subject line “Privacy request”. We may need to verify your identity first. We aim to reply within 7 working days and will respond within any period the law requires. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
13. US state privacy laws
Some US states give residents rights to know about, delete and correct their personal information, and to opt out of targeted advertising or the sharing of data for advertising. We do not sell personal information for money, but advertising cookies placed by our advertising partners may count as “sharing” or “targeted advertising” under some of these laws. You can opt out using the links in Section 5, and you can send us a request using the email in Section 12.

16. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including HTTPS and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
17. Links to other websites
Articles may link to other websites. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. Please read their policies before sharing personal information.
