This page explains how UpdateDecoded researches, writes, checks and corrects what it publishes. We want readers to know what they can expect from us and how to hold us to it.

What we publish

UpdateDecoded publishes explainers, guides, comparisons and commentary in Business, World, Auto, Sports and Travel, written in plain English for readers across India. We are an independent publication. We are not a wire service and we do not break news. Our value is in explaining what has happened and what it means for you.

Our standards

  • Clarity over complexity. We explain topics in plain language and define technical terms.
  • Accuracy over speed. We would rather publish later and be right than publish first and be wrong.
  • Value over volume. Every article should answer a real reader question. We do not publish filler to hit a posting schedule.

How we research and source

  • We prefer primary and official sources, such as government websites and notifications, regulators, court documents, company filings and press releases, and the manufacturer for product details.
  • For contested or important claims, we check more than one reliable source.
  • We attribute facts, figures and quotes, and link to sources where we can.
  • We separate reporting from opinion and label opinion pieces clearly.
  • Prices, dates and rules are checked at the time of writing, and we say when a figure is an estimate.

Originality

We write our own articles. We do not copy text from other websites, and we credit the sources we rely on. Images are our own, created for us, or used under a valid licence, and we credit them where required.

Use of AI tools

We may use AI-assisted tools for tasks such as research support, outlining and language editing. Every article is reviewed, fact-checked and edited by a human editor before it is published, and the editor is responsible for what appears on the Website.

Sensitive topics

For finance, tax, law, health, and visa and immigration topics, we stick to general information, link to official sources, and do not give personal advice. See our Disclaimer.

Keeping articles up to date

Rules, prices and policies change. We review articles periodically, show a “Last updated” date where we have revised an article, and update or retire content that is no longer accurate.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we will fix it. Significant corrections are marked with a note at the end of the article saying what changed and when. To report an error, email contact@updatedecoded.com with the page address and what you believe is wrong. We aim to reply within 7 working days.

Advertising and independence

Advertising and affiliate links help fund the Website, but they do not decide what we write. Ads are served automatically, and we do not publish content in exchange for payment without making it clear. Any affiliate relationship is disclosed in the article. See our Privacy Policy for how advertising works.
